GHCA April 4 Reception for Artist Patti Petit


Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts in Tallulah Falls features artist Patti Petit during the month of April. Petit is a very creative potter and has developed two separate themes, showing how clay can be used in its many different forms. On display are Petit's sculptured international dolls in their traditional clothing and also replica designs of purses from the past.

There will be a reception Saturday April 4th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Center in Tallulah Falls. Petit’s work will be on display until April 29th.

April is the perfect time to enjoy “Splendor in The Grass or Out on a Limb” the theme shows that are in the main gallery. As usual the artists have been very creative in the treatment of this theme show, which continues until April 18th.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School Art & Soul performance showcase to benefit “Power House for Kids” child advocacy center

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School’s Rearden Theatre will be the scene of a spectacular arts extravaganza on Friday, May 15 to benefit FAITH’s Power House for Kids child advocacy center located in Toccoa. The benefit will feature a variety of music, dance, theatre, visual and industrial arts and include the best of both RGNS student and faculty talent.

Tickets for the Art & Soul benefit are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Kids under 5 will be admitted free. Tickets soon will be available at the Rabun, Habersham, and Stephens County Chambers of Commerce, the FAITH Thrift Store in downtown Clayton, and at the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School bookstore. Doors will open at 6:30 PM on Friday, May 15 for the showcase.

Wine Highway Weekend

It's a great weekend to visit the Georgia Mountains! Visit our Northeast Georgia wineries and taste award winning wines grown and produced in our region.

The Winegrowers Association of Georgia sponsors it's fourth annual Wine Highway Weekend this Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22. There is a $20 charge per person, which is collected at the first winery visited. Travelers receive a "Wine Highway Weekend" collectors' glass, which gives admission to all participating wineries. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 - 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Stay and dine! Many restaurants are offering exceptional dining opportunities, including the Beechwood Inn and Lake Rabun Hotel, with overnight packages available at these properties and others. Please call for more information.

"Crimes of the Heart" opens March 27

The North Georgia Community Players presents the play, "CRIMES OF THE HEART," a Pulitzer Prize winning play by Beth Henley, March 27-29 and again April 3.5. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m.
